I choose to come back here.  Granted, the Coast Guard gives you choices that seem already decided before the asking.  But I do have to remind myself on a regular basis that I said "Yes!"...not just OK.

I said yes because this little jewel of an island gives you more than it takes from you....

This place gives you a chance to truly be grateful for simple things.  When the sun is shining it really feels like a gift.  It is not taken for granted around here.  My kids actually know the gift of light.  It is not an expectation, it is an exception.

Unlike sunshine, we have lots of rock. Sitka is overflowing with rock, gravel, and more rock....so when you see a patch of green grass it seems luxurious.  To play on grass, or picnic on grass, is a real treat.

I love that.  It does not take much to be grateful.

  1. I think Sitka is gorgeous and would trade you Sitka for central Ohio any day. Talk about boring, boring landscape. Flat, boring landscape. And we have just as many cloudy days, I bet!
