Not A Fan of 3

My 3 year old just about did me in today.  We have had a 3 year old around here for a few years in a row..first Jack, then Lucy and now we seemed to save the hardest for last.  While Lucy was wild and crazy and gave no thought to her safety or the safety of things around her, Priscilla is hard headed, stubborn and sometimes mean.  I am not a fan of any of the above.

Three is hard...going through life with a 3 year old 3 years in a row is just about the hardest thing I can think up today.

All is quiet now and I try to think about the good that will some day be Priscilla..but right now I sit here thinking back over the last 4 children who lived past 3 and I realize I did too.

Today Emily had to go somewhere and she hopped out of the car just as another girl was leaving her car...
"Mama..you see that girl?  She has 8 brothers and sisters. Isn't she lucky?"

Me...
"I think so and I am so glad you do too!!"

To grow up knowing how lucky you are to belong to so many people who adore you..lucky indeed!!

(Doing the math..... 6 plus what number gives me 8?  2 more...2 more pregnancies...2 more births....)

I hope she feels lucky to be part of 6 for now!!

Please little girl..go easy on mama tomorrow.  Tomorrow is Thursday and I love Thursday!!!

Enjoy It!!!

  2. I hear you! My 3 year old is wearing me thin! He is very hard headed. He knows best and does not care what anyone else thinks. He turns 4 on July 1st, and I am just waiting for that day to come! Lol! I know he won't magically start listening and stop all the foolishness, but 4 means he is no longer 3! It just sounds more reasonable.

    1. I laughed when I read your comment. I so get it. But it is not just in your hopes. Four is so much more reasonable than 3.

  3. Wow! I thought I was the only one with an impossible but lovable 3 year old! Your children are beautiful! Love the look of your blog. :-)

  4. Lisa- if that girl has eight SIBLINGS, you're going to have to have 3 more to catch up!!

    1. I know. I knew the family she was talking about had 8 so that's where the math came from. Good observation though.

  5. But she's SO cute! ;) I love that Emily said that. We only (only, ha!) have 4, which is plenty most days. My kids all seem to think that being one of 4 is pretty great too. My middle boy asked me once, "all of my friends only have one brother or sister so who do they play with when that one is getting on their nerves?" Astute observation. :)

    1. So true. More is more. Sometimes that means more fun and more to choose from. And it surely means more to play with.

  6. So much for the "terrible twos," three has always been much harder for me! You will get through this!

  7. I completely agree with Janice. Guess "terrible twos" sounds catchier than "terrible threes"
