Baby Knits

I have been knitting a little in the last month.  Actually, today it has been 1 month since my world grew bigger and WAY more EXHAUSTING...little Drew is 1 month today.  What an amazing time this has been.  I may have been sounding a bit overwhelmed in the last month.  If you got that feeling  than you were correct.  I am starting to feel less overwhelmed and I can definitely see bright days ahead.  Knitting helps.  Finishing projects help.  Good books help.

OK...the picture you see with the books...those are NOT my books.  Those would be Pete's books!!  Not my type of reading.  I am way more LOW-BROW.  I just happened to have the little Milo vest sitting there when I went to take a picture of it.  The only books I am able to get through are ones that are read to me that I have downloaded to my phone.  In the middle of the night when I am nursing I listen to as much as I can.  It seems Drew prefers me to stay sitting up when I nurse him and I need something to keep me in the game.  An audio book is just the thing.  I am listening to Grown Up Kind Of Pretty.  It is pretty good so far.  The author uses the "F" word a few times and I HATE that...but it is not enough to turn me off.  I just don't get it!!

And my knitting has been slow going and very cherished.  I love the feeling of making progress on something.  I have loved every stitch I have made lately.  My little Godson , Henry, is going to get his first hand knit tomorrow.  I should have had it done Sunday...but since I was not yet finished I just wrapped up what I had done so far and promised the rest soon.

As soon as I finished his Milo vest I began another one for my little Drew.  I love the first one I made while I was pregnant and it is such a simple knit.  He wears is all the time!!  The one I made for my Godson was knit with the Fibre Company Acadia...very sweet yarn.  Drew's yarn is Grace by Louisa Harding.  All yarn from my stash.  I am not sure if I will ever be able to go into a knitting store for now all projects are from yarn I already own.  Kinda fun!!  I know I can buy yarn online but I have no swift so I HATE winding it myself.

And the last picture of Lucy's toes..well that is the blanket I knit for Drew.  It was really simple and I had already started it before he was born.  I was not that motivated to work on it since I did not know if he was a boy.  My plan was to start a pink and blue blanket and then finish whichever I needed....
I never started the pink!! I realize I need a better picture of it..wait.  I think I have this one..

I wasn't finished with it here...

And Drew's hat was something I made before he was born.  I knit the blue one and the cream colored one to cover my bases.

Today I have invited 3 moms over with their kids.  I need some company.  My kids need company.  I miss my friends from Alabama.  I miss my old Rosary Group.  I miss people knowing me.  I wrote that post about meeting people and I realized I needed to do more in that area myself.  So I went to Target, got some new coffee mugs and fun creamers and I joyfully await my morning with other mamas.
Thanks for reading!!

Because I don't have enough white mugs...

  1. The knits are lovely and that ball of green yarn is just beautiful!
I hope you have a lovely time today with your group of Moms, it sounds like fun.
    Happy Yarn Along!

  2. We moved around a lot when we were first married and I know the feeling of missing friends. I hope your new friends make you happy. Congrats on your little wee one, his hat is adorable and he is adorable!!

  3. I totally understand the feeling of needing a group of friends around. We moved in October & no matter how hard I try I just can't seem to find that group yet. It'll come in time I'm sure! I love the idea of photographing the yarn in white dishes. I'll have to try that! :-)

  4. Aw mama! I LOVE your little bloggy! I stumbled upon it from Ginny, and it is just sooo sweet! My name is Samantha I blog at Woodland Woolens a blog about doll making and farming anf my young and growing family. I understand feeling overwhelmed much like you have been feeling.

I have three little boys under five with another one due in a few weeks. My current babe is only a year. I homeschool and wonder how in the world I will survive.

I also just moved from MN to OH and am feeling the same way. We are not Catholic but Christian and finding groups of moms has been hard.

I know I will get through it--- like you and am so happy to have found a blog mama in a similar situation!

    I will be back!
