Today I...

Today I got out all my 5th grade books.  Gathered all my planners and sat down to map out this next year...
And then I came home and cried...home schooling is hard and I am scared of what this year will bring...and I have only just begun....

  1. Homeschooling IS hard (and I'm scared, too)... as I'm mapping out the year for a 3rd grader & Ker. You're not alone!

  2. I don't know much, but I do know that if anyone can do it - you can! :) God Bless!!! OH, did I hear a hint that there are two babies in that belly in your I go, starting rumors :)

  3. Lisa!
You can do it!! Em did 5th last year, at this age they can begin to do A LOT on their own. She will still need a guiding hand, but she should be able to look at her syllabus and go with it!! Don't cry...or cry if it makes you feel better! Good luck!!

  4. I'm there with you Lisa. Homeschooling is hard, I agree. Last year I taught a 5th, two 4th, and a 2nd grader. It actually was one of our best years so far, challenges and all. This year everyone is one year older, plus we're adding a kinder to the mix. And a 3 yr old, 1 yr old, and new baby coming in January. I'll be right there with you!

  5. You can do it! I have been where you are...well, not quite the number of kiddos, but I did homeschool gr 5 while we were moving from Michigan to Alaska with three little ones in tow. Gabe turned out fine, as you know.

If you just put the books in front of Emily and did nothing else (but, of course, you will do more), she will still have a fine year.

Remember for this year--The Baby is the Lesson! This year is about bringing a new life into your family. If school takes a back seat this year, so what? New babies are so much better, and cooler, that school work.

  6. I felt that way too! I thought you were so smart to have homeschooled from the beginning! I only wished I knew people around me (locally) who homeschooled! I started late in the game when Kyle was already 1/2 way through 7th grade! Now THAT was tough! I had to remember (sometimes multiple times in a day!) the reasons WHY I was homeschooling. I would never want to go back. You are in a great state to homeschool. is a wonderful support. I encourage you to sign up with them if you haven't already. Your kids are fantastic and you and Pete do a great job! ~Shelly
